The Ballerina

The ballerina - Watch out for her in the first edition of "Absinthe". Since I haven't really been around, let me fill you in on what has been going on. I now have a fortnightly comic strip coming out every alternate Saturday in the Saturday supplement of the Indian Express. Its called 'Marcus and more' and you can read some of the strips here (Marcus and More). Also if you haven't been following my doodle blog, I have several updates there. Doodles and character designs mostly.I've been adding more stuff to that blog than to this one of late.
The Children's book I'm illustrating for Hema should ideally be out in a month or two. Rosh is doing the colors for that one

Or maybe its the right side of the moon on the wrong day. Poor Ol' moon bunny sure mus've had a tough time today!15 Jan 2010. We had a complete solar eclipse today in our little city. It was beautiful. What added to the beauty was Merryn when she popped 'THE question' on one knee offering me the big bright ring up in the sky. Quite gave me a moment thats frozen in time for ever

Trivandrum - Life in the small city

I was reading Will Eisner's brilliant work, New York - The big city, and it inspired me into thinking why not document the unique things that happen around where I live, in what Rosh mockingly calls my Indo-French style :). Then i made a very long list of all the things that one gets to see only in the streets of Trivandrum, one of the Southernmost cities of India, and the homeland of yours truly.
So here I am, presenting to you all, Trivandrum - Life in the small city.
Matilda
I am starting off with Matilda the "meenkaari" (Fish-seller), who is often seen trailing a long chain of cats as she goes from house to house selling the fish her husband had caught out in the sea. Once in a while, nagged by all the whining and purring, she tosses a small fish into the cloud of cats following her. Will be adding more to this post as time permits. Do check back! Monsieur Lapadite

Watched Inglorious Basterds. And couldn't help but wonder if Monsieur Lapadite would ever be able to forgive himself after having betrayed the family he had sheltered. Btw, loved the movie. Awesome performances and remarkable storytelling!
