Go Dubai!

This is part of an artwork I did a few months back for an International Literature Fest in Dubai. Boy, was I glad to see the name of so many graphic novelists on it! The medium of sequential art is finally going main stream in Dubai! :)

Pthbbbt!!!

Ah well.... as far as style explorations go, this too happened in November 2014. I also got a little married, which in itself is a major change in 'style' ;) . And yes, that's the wife going 'pthbbbbt' right there!

The Other Woman

When you keep doing something for long enough, especially artwise, you end up developing and being stuck with a form of expression that you proudly call your 'style' . But just as it is with actors, this restricts you when it comes to handling different genres. Of late I've been jumping at any chance I get to break free from my comfort zone. Here's something I did last year as part of a series of development sketches for a form of expression quite unlike the one I've been using on a regular basis. I eventually used the style in a comic that you can read HERE. It's called 33, and is written by Jai Undurti. I also got to pay a humble tribute to the legendary R. K. Laxman in the comic

Drifting Apart

Life puts us through a lot of situations- good, bad, ugly, and mundane. As a result, we change, we evolve, we devolve, and in one way or another, we grow. We are not all subjected to the same stimuli. Nor do we all react the same way to any given stimulus. As natural as the process of growing up is the process of growing apart. Some relationships, in time, lose their steam. Sometimes all you can do is stay down and watch that ship sink.

Mostly Sequential

As it often happens with my blogs, I've been away from this one too for so long. I blame facebook and instagram for all the instant gratification that they provide with their 'likes' and such. But  somehow they both lack the archival value that blog posts have. Or may be it's just me.

Speaking of which, I have added yet another blog to my long list of blogs. This one is mostly to showcase my sequential art. You can visit it by clicking on the image below. I'll be adding more webcomics there whenever I can

And to all those who opine that microblogging has massacred blogs, let me repeat what Onur Kabadayi, the managing director of Boomads, said in his article in The Guardian
"Blogs haven't disappeared – they have simply morphed into a mature part of the publishing ecosystem. The loss of casual bloggers has shaken things out, with more committed and skilled writers sticking it out. Far from killing the blog dream, this has increased the quality of the blogosphere as a whole."

Retrospectacular!!

I have always been too lazy to color my artwork; which is why most of my comic strips so far have been in monochromes. But there is something very charming about old school coloring, that got misplaced somewhere when new age printing took over. Here are a few more attempts at coming up with a retro-esque color scheme. Looks like I still got a long way to go.

The first piece that you see is the colored version of a black and white piece of fanart (of Morpheus, of course) that I did for a project titled 'Bleeding Blacks' on my facebook comic-page called Mostly sequential. You can see the inked version here --> Link
